Last year my friend took an entrepreneurial leadership course and came up with a great business plan. Although logistically difficult and costly upfront, I think it is a great idea that is spreading. The n roof. Her idea was that restaurants could plant green roofs with a little produce. A green roof is an advantage for the building it covers because it reduces heating and cooling costs, while extending the life of the roof. It also lowers air temperatures, soaks up rain water, and reduces the Urban Heat Island Effect. Not to mention it puts a use to empty space, making a piece of metal into a green and energetic life source. There is an added benefit if the building stands to gain from advertising a green roof. A restaurant could brag about a caprese salad with roof-fresh beefstakes and basil.
