Find an action!
October 15, 2009
I’ve posted before about how changing the way you eat can drastically reduce your carbon foot print. Industrial agriculture contributes to global warming more than any other industry. We have the power to change the world with every meal we eat. While these daily protests are important and necessary, we need more. We need a response that is as dramatic as the problem. Even more, we need to show the leaders of the world that we must have their help, that we are dedicated to this cause, and that global climate change is an issue about which we simply will not budge.
350.org is an online campaign with a mission to inspire the world to rise to the challenge of the climate crisis- to create a new sense of urgency and of possibility for our planet. 350 is the number because this is the parts per million CO2 that scientists believe to be the upper limit when it comes to the safety of humanity. We are at 387 today. When world leaders meet in Copenhagen this year they must have the pressure of people on their shoulders. The new environmental treaty must meet the 350 cutoff.
October 24th is the day to show leaders what must happen to solve climate change. People from all over the planet will join together on this day of action and be heard. Learn more and find an action near you at 350.org.
Today is the 350.org blog action day. If you have one, spread the word.
