Tufts thanks the Boston Localvores

November 17, 2010

Copying the laid back, locally sourced Souper Bowl put on by the Boston Localvores last February, I organized a night by the same name for Tufts students. This past Thursday we slurped on soups prepared by Tufts Catering Services, took in the music of President Soup, perused food-related art work by Tufts students, and competed in a best bowl competition. With the best bowl, Monica walked away with a coupon for a dozen Kickass Cupcakes. Most left the with a copy of Edible Boston and an artsy booklet packed with Tufts-centered local food resources. Click on the opening page below to download the booklet.

The event attracted more people than we imagined and we ran out of soup fast! Future Souper Bowl planners should know that Tufts students are down with harvest foods and the sociality of eating with a conscience.

Really, really awesome. At our school cafe at Vermont Law School, the chef makes 2 soups everyday and the cafe staff lists where the ingredients came from, usually all local farms, right under the soup name.

    That’s what I’m talking about!
